About

All around the globe indigenous peoples are standing on the frontlines of the battle against environmental destruction, biodiversity loss and climate change by protecting and defending our most precious ecosystems.

Scientific predictions demonstrate the urgency for protecting 80% of the Amazon rainforest by 2025 - 2030 in order to prevent the irreversible tipping point when the rainforest will loose its ability to produce its own rain and slowly degrade into a dry Savannah. We are only 2% away from losing a core stabiliser of the global climate forever.

Scientific evidence also clearly demonstrates that a large part of the standing forest is located within indigenous territories. Indigenous people have been protecting the Amazon rainforest for hundreds of years, despite the constant threat by illegal logging, drilling for oil and gas, as well as destructive mining and farming practices. They are constantly adapting their defence strategies, but it is still a battle which many are paying for with their lives.

This site is dedicated to honour the legacy of the fight of indigenous peoples living in the nine Amazonian countries and to amplify their voices in their fight for survival and the protection of the Amazon rainforest as well as other critical ecosystems in the region.

Let us listen, to what the climate leaders have to say!
